Takes into account date overlaps and special periods
Work experience calculator
📅 How to calculate length of service for a pension or resume
Our service allows you to summarize work periods accurate to the day. Unlike simple mental calculations, the algorithm takes into account leap years and different numbers of days in months.
- Click “Add period” and enter the dates of admission and dismissal from the work book.
- Tick the special periods (Maternity or Army) - they are considered according to their own rules.
- You don’t have to specify the end date for your current place of work—the system will automatically substitute “today.”
Features of our algorithm
We use a methodology similar to the Pension Fund calculations:
- Accurate calendar calculation: We do not average a month to 30 days, but calculate the actual number of days between dates.
- Matching periods: If you quit and started a new job on the same day, the calculator will count that day only once.
- Accounting for benefits: Military service and parental leave are separated into separate categories for ease of verification.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
🔹 How is maternity leave taken into account?
Maternity leave (for pregnancy and childbirth) is included in the general insurance period. Child care leave up to 1.5 years is also included, but has limits for accruing pension points. In the calculator, it is better to list these periods as a separate line, checking the “Maternity leave” box.
🔹 Is military service included in the length of service?
Yes, military service is included in the total length of service. When filling out the fields, be sure to check the box “Service in the army”, since special coefficients are applied to calculate pensions for these periods (as well as when calculating taxes and deductions).
🔹 Why is the result different from manual calculation?
When counting manually, people often simply add up the years and months. Our calculator converts all periods into days, sums them up, and then converts them back to the full date (Year, Month, Day). This is the most accurate mathematical method.
🔹 How to calculate length of service for a current job?
Indicate the date of hire, and in the dismissal date field, enter the current date. The result will be relevant today.
