Air conditioner calculator — calculate the power of the air conditioner Construction

Air conditioner power

Selection of a split system based on area and room parameters

Enter the area of the room
to calculate the power
Recommended model:
Cooling power 0 kW
Performance 0 BTU
💡 Tip: Always choose a model with a small margin. If the calculation showed on the edge (for example, 2.6 kW), it is better to take a more powerful model (12000 BTU).

Air conditioner calculator - calculate the power of the air conditioner

❄️ How to correctly calculate the power of an air conditioner?

Choosing a split system “by eye” is the main mistake when purchasing. An air conditioner that is too weak will wear out and will not cool the room in the heat, while an air conditioner that is too powerful will constantly turn on and off, which shortens the life of the compressor.

📌 Calculation formula: Our calculator uses the standard engineering methodology $Q = Q1 + Q2 + Q3$, which takes into account the volume of the room, the degree of solar illumination and heat emission from people and household appliances equipment.

What do the numbers in the title mean (07, 09, 12)?

The power of most home air conditioners is measured inBTUs (British Thermal Units). These are the numbers you see in the model names:

Marking Power (BTU) Area (approximately)
"Seven" (07) 7000 BTU / 2.1 kW up to 20 m²
"Nine" (09) 9000 BTU / 2.6 kW up to 25 m²
"Twelve" (12) 12000 BTU / 3.5 kW up to 35 m²

Main factors influencing the calculation

To ensure the result is as accurate as possible, pay attention to the following nuances:

☀️ Side of the World

If the windows face south, heat gain increases by 20-30%. In the calculator, select the “Sun (South)” option - the system will automatically apply a multiplying factor.

🖥️ Household appliances

Your computer, TV, or stove produces heat. On average, an additional 0.3 kW of cooling power is required per unit of equipment.

🏠 Ceiling height

The standard calculation is for a height of 2.7 m. If you have a “Stalin” building or a private house with ceilings of 3+ meters, be sure to indicate this in the input field, since a larger volume of air will have to be cooled.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

🔹 Is it possible to take the air conditioner “with a reserve”?

A small margin (10-15%) is useful for peak temperatures in July. However, buying the “24” model for a 15 m² room will lead to the fact that the inverter will not be able to operate at low speeds, and the normal start-stop will jerk every 2 minutes.

🔹 Is one powerful air conditioner enough for the whole apartment?

As a rule, no. Air is reluctant to pass through doorways. As a result, there will be a glacier in the room with the block, and stuffy in the next room. It is more efficient to install a multi-split system or several separate blocks.

🔹 What if I have panoramic windows?

Panoramic glazing is a huge radiator in summer. When calculating, we recommend adding another 15-20% power to the final value above what the calculator gives.
