Calculator for facing bricks for the facade of a house
The facade does not forgive mistakes: we count accurately so as not to buy more.
The main fear when buying facing bricks is making a mistake with the quantity. If there is not enough material, the new batch from the factory may differ in shade (different tone), and the facade will be damaged. If you buy too much, it’s frozen money, since cladding is expensive.
Use this calculator to calculate the exact quantity of bricks for wall cladding. The algorithm takes into account:
- Sizes of your brick (Standard, Euro, One and a half).
- The area of window and door openings (they must be subtracted).
- The thickness of the mortar joint (significantly affects the final figure!).
What reserve should I include when calculating?
Even an ideal calculation requires adjustment to the realities of construction. When ordering facing bricks, always add a percentage for “breaking” and “trimming”:
| Masonry type | Recommended margin |
|---|---|
| Blank wall (without complex elements) | 5% |
| Wall with windows (lots of trimming) | 7-10% |
| Architectural elements (arches, columns) | 10-15% |
The most popular formats of facade bricks
In the calculator you can set your dimensions, but most often GOST standards are used:
- 1 NF (Single): 250x120x65 mm. Classic, ideal for most facades.
- 1.4 NF (One and a half): 250x120x88 mm. Allows you to save mortar and speed up masonry.
- 0.7 NF (Euro): 250x85x65 mm. Narrower brick reduces the load on the foundation and is cheaper.
Questions before purchasing
📏 Is seam thickness important?
Critically important. The standard seam is 10 mm. If you decide to make a thin seam (8 mm) or a wide one (12 mm) for jointing, the amount of brick per 1 m² will change. Be sure to include this parameter in the calculator.
📦 How many bricks are in the pallet?
Depends on the plant. Usually: Single (1NF) - 400-480 pcs., Single-and-a-half (1.4NF) - 300-350 pcs. It is better to round the calculator result up to whole pallets.
🏠 Count by piece or in square meters?
Sellers often count facing material in pieces (“conventional thousand”). But masonry masters set prices per square meter. Our tool provides both values for convenience.
