📉 How to drink and not gain weight: 3 rules
- Avoid sugar. Cocktails are a double whammy: alcohol + syrups. The best choice for losing weight is dry wine or strong alcohol with ice.
- Alternate with water. The rule “1 glass of wine = 1 glass of water” will save you from swelling and overeating. Calculate your hydration rate here.
- Be careful with snacks. When drinking alcohol, we often eat more fatty and salty foods, as self-control decreases.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Why is vodka considered high in calories if it has no sugar?
The alcohol itself provides calories in vodka. 100 grams of vodka contain about 235 kcal - this is like a good piece of meat or a portion of porridge, only without vitamins and benefits.
What are “empty calories”?
This is energy that does not provide the body with proteins, healthy fats, or vitamins. The body tends to burn alcohol calories first, stopping the fat burning process.
How does alcohol slow down weight loss?
As long as there is alcohol in the blood, the body blocks fat oxidation. Everything eaten as a snack will most likely go into the fat depot.
