Book reading time
📚 How many days will it take me to read this book?
We often put off thick books for later, afraid that reading will drag on for months. Our calculator will help you turn uncertainty into a precise plan: find out when you'll finish the book if you start reading today.
⚙️ Step-by-step instructions
- Enter the length: Enter the number of pages in the book (for reference: a standard novel is 300–400 pages).
- Select speed:
- Slow (5 min/page) - for complex textbooks and thoughtful study.
- Medium (3 min/page) - comfortable speed for most people.
- Fast (1 min/page) - for quick viewing.
- Time per day:Be honest about how many minutes you are willing to spend (usually 30-60 minutes).
After clicking the “Calculate” button you will see the total number of days and hours.
🎯 Who is this useful for?
- Students: Calculate how many days you need to prepare for the exam using the textbook. This will help to correctly distribute time.
- Book bloggers:Assess whether you will have time to read the new product by the review deadline.
- On vacation: Find out how many books to take with you on a trip so as not to carry extra cargo.
📈 Examples of calculations from life
📖 War and Peace (1300 pages):Reading 45 minutes a day at an average speed, you will finish the epic in 3 months (87 days).
💼 Business book (380 pages): By spending 30 minutes a day on thoughtful reading, you will master the material in 2 months (64 days).
🔍 Detective (180 pages): Easy reading for an hour a day will take only 3 days.
🚀 How to read faster?
If you're not happy with the results, try these simple techniques:
- Do not pronounce words to yourself (subvocalization slows down the process).
- Use your finger or pencil as a pointer to keep your eyes from jumping around the line.
- Train your gaze to take in a group of words at once, and not each one individually.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
🔹 Why do I get more days than in the examples?
Your reading speed is likely below average or you have allocated too little time per day (for example, 15 minutes). Try increasing your daily time limit or select the Custom Speed option.
🔹 How to time an audiobook?
The page calculator is not suitable for audiobooks. You just need to divide the total duration of the recording (in minutes) by the time you are willing to listen to the book daily.
🔹 Is it possible to count articles and documents?
Yes. Take 1800 characters with spaces (standard typewritten sheet) as a conditional “page” and enter the resulting number of pages into the calculator.
🔹 Why know the speed so accurately?
Even a small difference (for example, 2 or 3 minutes per page) on a volume of 500 pages results in 8 hours of pure time. When reading 30 minutes a day, that's a difference of as much as 16 days!
