Text Analyzer
Instant statistics of characters, words and letter frequency
Vowels and consonants
📊 Why count vowels and consonants?
This tool performs phonetic analysis of text in a fraction of a second. Unlike simply counting characters, it shows the "sound map" of your text. This is necessary not only for linguists, but also for practitioners:
Follow the euphony. Too many consonants make the text “stumble” and difficult to read. The optimal ratio for the Russian language is about 40% vowels and 60% consonants.
Check the rhythm. Vowels give melody, and consonants give energy and harshness. The tool will help you create the desired sound recording.
If you need to evaluate not the sounds, but the quality of the text as a whole (spam, stop words), we recommend using our word frequency analysis or a tool for checking "wateriness" of the text.
How to use the tool?
- Insert text into the input field (no space restrictions).
- Click the analyze button.
- Get the report:
- Total number of characters (for simple counting there is a separate character counter).
- Exact number of vowels and consonants.
- Their percentage (calculated using percentage formula of the total number of letters).
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
🔹 Which letters are considered vowels?
We take into account 10 letters of the Russian alphabet: a, e, e, i, o, u, s, e, yu, i. Hard (ъ) and soft (ь) signs do not belong to either vowels or consonants and are taken into account in the “other characters” category.
🔹 Does the calculator work in English?
The current algorithm is configured strictly for the Cyrillic alphabet (Russian alphabet). Latin letters will fall into the “other characters” category and will not participate in phonetic calculation.
🔹 Is my text saved?
No. All analysis happens on the fly in your browser. The text is not sent anywhere, which guarantees complete confidentiality.
