🚴♂️ How to choose the right bike size
Your comfort, pedaling efficiency and knee health depend on the correct frame size. Our calculator will help you instantly determine the right frame size based on your height and preferred riding style.
- Select a bike class: mountain (MTB), road/gravel or city.
- Enter your exact height in centimeters (from 90 to 220 cm).
- Click “Select Size” and get the letter value (S, M, L), as well as the length of the seat tube in inches and centimeters.
Features of choice for different types of skiing
Frame geometry differs depending on the discipline, so the same person can use different sizes for different bikes:
- Mountain Bikes (MTB):Have a shorter frame for off-road maneuverability. Sizes are usually given in inches (for example, 17", 19").
- Road and gravel bikes:They are distinguished by an elongated, sporty riding position for aerodynamics. Size is traditionally measured in centimeters (e.g. 54 cm, 56 cm).
- Urban and hybrids: Designed for a comfortable, almost vertical fit. The size is similar to mountain ones, but allows for a slightly larger size for comfort.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
What should I do if my height is on the border of two sizes?
If you are between sizes (for example, you are 175 cm tall and fit both M and L), go by your riding style. For aggressive riding and better control, go for a smaller frame. For a quiet ride over long distances - a large one.
How does wheel size affect choosing a frame?
The size of the wheels (26", 27.5" or 29") has almost no effect on the size of the frame itself, since manufacturers adjust the geometry for different diameters. Our calculator simply tells you the standard wheel size that is usually installed on bicycles of the category you have chosen.
Is the calculator suitable for children's bicycles?
Yes. When you enter a height of less than 145 cm, the algorithm automatically switches to the selection mode for children's and teenagers' bicycles, focusing on wheel size (from 12 to 24 inches).
