📊 Decoding of indicators: norm and deviations

Our tool helps you instantly interpret your meter readings. However, remember: a single measurement is not a diagnosis. Doctors evaluate the dynamics and use laboratory methods.

Table of sugar levels (for a healthy person)

Measurement type Normal (mmol/l) Prediabetes Diabetes
Empty stomach 3.9 - 5.5 5.6 - 6.9 > 7.0
After meals (2 hours) up to 7.8 7.9 - 11.0 > 11.1

Data are presented in accordance with WHO recommendations. For pregnant women and children, standards may differ.

⚠️ Risk factors: when should you get checked more often?

Regular glucose monitoring is required not only for diabetes, but also in the presence of risk factors:

  • Excess weight: This is one of the main triggers of type 2 diabetes. We recommend checking your body mass index using our BMI calculator.
  • Heredity:Diabetes in parents or close relatives.
  • Symptoms: Constant thirst (polydipsia), dry mouth, frequent urination.
Important: This online calculator is an informational tool. In case of any deviations from the norm, be sure to contact an endocrinologist to get tested for glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c).

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

🔹 What does “fasting measurement” mean?

This is a measurement of sugar levels in the morning, after a night's sleep (fasting 8-14 hours). You can drink water, but tea, coffee or food will distort the result.

🔹 What is the difference between mmol/l and mg/dl?

In Russia and Europe they use mmol/l, in the USA - mg/dl. To convert mmol/L to mg/dL, you need to multiply the number by 18. Our calculator works with the mmol/L standard.

🔹 Can this calculator diagnose diabetes?

No. The calculator shows whether your current value is within the normal range. The diagnosis of diabetes mellitus is made only by a doctor based on a series of laboratory tests.
