Brickwork calculation

🧱 Exact calculation of bricks for a house, garage or partition

The main mistake when purchasing material is not taking into account mortar joints and breakage during unloading. Our calculator helps you buy exactly as much brick as you need, so you don’t overpay for extra pallets or order expensive delivery just for a couple of missing packs.

📋 Instructions in 3 steps:
  1. Wall dimensions: Enter the perimeter (length) and height of the walls. If you have windows and doors, subtract their area from the total square footage.
  2. Brick parameters: Choose standard (250x120x65 mm) or specify your dimensions. If your measurements are in centimeters or meters, use measurement converter to convert them to millimeters.
  3. Masonry thickness: Select the type of wall (half a brick, a brick, one and a half, etc.).

Why are manual calculations often wrong?

Many people forget about the mortar seam. The standard seam thickness is 10 mm. On the scale of an entire house, seams occupy a significant volume (up to 20-25% of the wall area). Our calculator takes this into account automatically, saving you from buying unnecessary material.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

🔹 How much reserve for “battle” should you put in?

Even with careful delivery, some of the brick breaks. The material also pricks when cutting (especially on gables and corners).

We recommend adding to the estimated quantity:

  • 5% - for facing (facing) brick.
  • 10-15% - for rough brick or complex masonry.

You can accurately calculate the premium using our interest calculator.

🔹 What are 1 SF, 1.4 SF and 2.1 SF?

This is a designation of the brick format (size):

  • 1 NF (Single): 250x120x65 mm. Classic version.
  • 1.4 NF (One and a half): 250x120x88 mm. Saves mortar and laying time.
  • 2.1 NF (Double): 250x120x138 mm. More often used for load-bearing walls (“loaf”).
🔹 Do you need to subtract windows and doors?

Required! If you do not subtract the area of the openings, you will buy 20-30% more material than you need. Calculate the total area of all windows and doors and subtract it from the total area of the walls before calculating (if the calculator does not have separate fields for this).
