Calculation of the amount of reinforcement

🏗️ Online calculation of reinforcement for foundations and walls

This tool solves the main problem of a private builder: to find out the exact weight and length of the reinforcement, so as not to overpay for excess metal and not order delivery twice due to the lack of a couple of rods.

💡 Important about overlap: Reinforcement cannot be butted together. When calculating, be sure to take into account the overlap (overlapping of the rods) - usually this is 30–40 rod diameters. Our calculator allows you to set this reserve automatically.

What is this calculation good for?

  • Strip foundation: calculation of longitudinal rods and transverse clamps.
  • Monolithic slab: grid calculation (in one or two layers).
  • Armobelt and lintels: reinforcement of walls made of aerated concrete or brick.
  • Blind area: calculation of a light mesh for paths around the house.

If the project indicates dimensions in millimeters, and you are used to centimeters, use our measurement converter for quick conversion.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

🔹 What diameter of reinforcement should I choose?

For light buildings (bathhouse, garage) and private houses, a rod with a diameter of 10–12 mm is usually used. For heavy cottages and critical load-bearing structures - 14–16 mm. The designer should provide exact figures.

🔹 What is a “safety factor”?

When cutting metal, there is always waste (clippings). To ensure that there is exactly enough metal, it is customary to add 5–7% to the calculated amount. This parameter can be configured in our calculator.

🔹 How to convert meters of reinforcement to tons?

Metal warehouses often sell reinforcement by weight. Our calculator automatically converts the total length into kilograms and tons, using reference data for the specific gravity of steel according to GOST.
