According to the Family Code of the Russian Federation, the maintenance of children is the responsibility of both parents. Our tool will help you quickly determine the approximate amount of payments based on official or actual income.
How to calculate: Percentage of income
This is the most common method of collection (Article 81 of the RF IC). Alimony is withheld from the “net” salary (after deduction of personal income tax). If you do not know the exact amount in hand, use our salary calculator.
| Number of children | Revenue share | Example (salary 60,000 ₽) |
|---|---|---|
| 👶 1 child | 25% (1/4) | 15,000 ₽ |
| 👶👶 2 children | 33.3% (1/3) | 20,000 ₽ |
| 👶👶👶 3 or more | 50% (1/2) | 30,000 ₽ |
Important: The maximum withholding cannot exceed 70% of income (even if there are debts).
Fixed amount (Fixed monetary amount)
If the parent does not have an official job, a floating income or a salary in foreign currency, the court assigns alimony in aFixed Money Sum (FSA). It is tied to the cost of living per child in a particular region (usually 50% or 100% of the minimum).
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
🔹 What is the minimum alimony amount in 2025?
There is no concept of “minimum alimony” in the law. If the payer works officially, this is 25% of the minimum wage (after deduction of tax). If it doesn’t work, the court sets an amount based on the cost of living in the region (the average in the Russian Federation is about 15,000 - 17,000 rubles, half or the full amount is collected).
🔹 Is child support paid after 18 years if the child is studying?
No. In Russia, the obligation to pay child support ceases strictly at the age of 18, even if the child has entered a university as a full-time student. The only exceptions are disabled children.
🔹 How is alimony divided for children from different wives?
All children have equal rights. For two children (even from different marriages) 33% is due. This means that each child will receive 16.5% of the father’s income.
🔹 From which income is NOT alimony taken?
You cannot collect debts from travel allowances, survivor benefits, maternity capital, compensation for tool wear and some social benefits.
