Drywall calculation

🏗️ Drywall calculator: calculating the number of sheets

Accurate calculation of materials before starting repairs saves up to 20% of the budget. Our tool helps you find out exactly how many sheets of gypsum plasterboard (Knauf, Gyproc and analogues) you need to buy for wall or ceiling cladding, so as not to pay for excess and avoid going to the store twice.

How to correctly calculate the material?

The calculation algorithm is simple, but requires accurate data:

  1. Measure the room: You need to know the exact square footage of the working surfaces. If the room has a complex shape, we recommend first using figure area calculator to get an accurate figure.
  2. Select sheet size: Standard sheet is 2500x1200 mm (3 m²), but there are also small-format sheets (1500x600 mm).
  3. Indicate stock:Professionals always stock material for trimming.
✂️ How much to take in reserve?

  • For smooth walls: 5-10%.
  • For complex structures and ceilings: 15-20%.
  • You can accurately calculate the premium through our interest calculator.

Tips for choosing drywall

In order for the repair to last a long time, it is important to choose the right type of sheet:

  • GKL (Grey):Standard. Suitable for dry rooms (bedroom, living room, corridor).
  • GKLV (Green):Moisture resistant. Required for bathrooms, kitchens and window slopes.
  • GKLO (Pink): Fire resistant. Used for lining fireplaces and chimneys.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

❓ What is the difference between wall plasterboard and ceiling plasterboard?

The main difference is the thickness. For walls, sheets of 12.5 mm are used (they are stronger), and for the ceiling, in order to reduce the load on the frame, sheets with a thickness of 9.5 mm are used.

❓ Do I need to subtract windows and doors from the area?

Yes, if the openings are large (door, panoramic window). If this is a small technical window, its area can be neglected - the remnants of the plasterboard will go to the slopes.

❓ How to transport and store sheets?

Drywall should only be stored horizontally on a flat surface. Vertical storage (leaning against the wall) leads to curvature of the sheets, and they will be difficult to install.
