Fuel consumption
⛽ How to find out the real fuel consumption?
Many on-board computers lie. To get accurate numbers, use our calculator and the driver-tested Full Tank Method.
📏 Instructions for accurate measurements:
- Fill the tank full “before shooting” the pistol.
- Reset the odometer (Trip A) to zero.
- Drive normally for 300–500 km.
- Refill the full tank “before shooting” at the same column.
- Enter distance traveled and liters from the second check into the calculator above.
The formula by which the result is calculated:
(Liters ÷ Kilometers) × 100 = Consumption l/100km
Why has consumption increased?
If the calculator shows numbers higher than the passport numbers, pay attention to the factors that “eat up” fuel:
- Aggressive driving:sharp starts increase consumption by 20-30%.
- Air conditioning and electrical appliances: Constantly turned on climate control and other consumers of energy create a load on the generator and engine.
- Tire pressure:Flat tires increase rolling resistance.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
🔹 How to calculate the cost of a trip?
Knowing the average consumption, use the formula:
(Distance / 100) × Consumption × Gasoline price = Travel cost.
For example: (500 km / 100) × 8l × 55r = 2200 rubles.
🔹 Why does the on-board computer show less?
On-board systems often calculate flow rate based on the time the injectors open and can be off by 0.5–1.5 liters, especially in traffic jams. Payments based on gas station receipts are always more accurate.
🔹 What consumption is considered normal?
For small cars, the norm is 6–8 liters in the combined cycle. For crossovers - 9–12 liters. For SUVs - from 14 liters. In winter, consumption always increases by 10–15% due to warming up.
