Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
🔹 Why are the values different in different calculators?
There is a "Metric HP" (used in the Russian Federation and Europe) and “Mechanical HP.” (used in US/UK). Our calculator uses the metric standard (1 hp = 735.5 W), as it is adopted in Russian legislation.
🔹 Why translate hp. in kW?
In Russia tax is calculated based on horsepower. However, in a number of countries (for example, Australia) or for electric vehicles (Tesla, etc.), the main characteristic is Kilowatt. This is also necessary for registering imported cars.
🔹 How many kilowatts are in 1 horsepower?
Exact value: 0.73549875 kW. For a rough calculation in your head, you can multiply the number of horses by 0.74.
