Root and power of a number
⚡ Instant calculation of roots and powers
Our online tool replaces the engineering calculator. Enter a number, select an operation, and you will instantly get the result. 4 modes available:
- Square root (√):finds the base of a number.
- Squaring a number (x²):multiplying a number by itself.
- Cubic root (∛): finding a number whose cube is equal to a given one.
- Cube of a number (x³): raised to the third power.
Remember that the square root of a negative number cannot be taken (in the school curriculum), while the cube root of a minus exists (for example, ∛-27 = -3).
Who will need this tool?
- For schoolchildren and students: For quick checking of algebra homework. By the way, if you are studying number theory, take a look at the section about prime numbers.
- Engineers and builders:For basic calculations of area and volume.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
🔹 How are results rounded?
By default, the calculator displays the result accurate to two decimal places (for example, 3.14). This is enough for most school and everyday tasks.
🔹 Is it possible to calculate the 4th root?
Not in this interface. But there is a life hack: to find the 4th root, you need to take the square root twice in a row. If you need to calculate the area of a room, we recommend using a specialized square meters calculator.
🔹 Why doesn’t the calculator calculate the square root of a minus sign?
Because in the set of real numbers there is no such number that, when multiplied by itself, would give a minus. This is mathematically impossible without the use of complex numbers.
