Sine, cosine, tangent and cotangent calculator
📐 Instant calculation of sine, cosine, tangent and cotangent
This tool allows you to find the values of trigonometric functions for any angle. Supports input in both degrees (deg) and radians (rad).
- Enter the angle (for example,
30,45,90). - Select a unit of measurement.
- The calculator will immediately show the values of all four functions (sin, cos, tg, ctg).
Where is this useful?
Trigonometry is needed not only in school, but also in real problems:
- Construction: Calculation of roof slopes or design of convenient rises. By the way, for a detailed calculation of steps, we recommend our specialized staircase calculator.
- Geometry and Physics: Solving problems with triangles, calculating vectors and forces.
- Graphs: If you need not just to find out a number, but to see how a function behaves on a graph, use the function building tool.
💡 Cheat Sheet: Basic Angles
Values that are useful to remember (or quickly check here):
| Angle | Sin | Cos | Tan |
|---|---|---|---|
| 30° | 0.5 | 0.866 | 0.577 |
| 45° | 0.707 | 0.707 | 1 |
| 60° | 0.866 | 0.5 | 1.732 |
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
🔹 Why is the tangent of 90° not detected?
Tangent is the ratio of sine to cosine (sin/cos). At an angle of 90°, the cosine is zero. You cannot divide by zero, so the value goes to infinity (undefined).
🔹 How does the calculator calculate angles greater than 360°?
Due to the periodicity of functions, sin(390°) is the same as sin(30°). The calculator automatically discards extra circles and produces the correct result.
🔹 Is it possible to enter negative numbers?
Yes. A negative angle means clockwise rotation. The calculator takes into account the signs of functions depending on which quarter the angle falls into.
