Crab salad
🥗 How to calculate the ingredients for a salad and not buy too much
“Crab” is the king of the festive table along with Olivier. The main difficulty when cooking for a large company is guessing the proportions. Our calculator solves three problems:
- Budget saving: you will buy exactly as many sticks and corn as you need without overpaying for extra packaging. By the way, before going to the store, we recommend checking the benefits of promotions through our discount calculator.
- Taste balance: The algorithm uses the classic proportion so that there is no more rice than filling.
- Precision in pieces: We translate faceless grams into understandable units - “pieces of eggs,” “cans of corn,” and “packs of crab sticks.”
💡 Secrets of the perfect crab salad
🥒 Cucumber: fresh or salted?
The classic is a fresh cucumber, it gives freshness and crunch. If you prepare the salad in advance (a day in advance), remove the watery core from the cucumbers, otherwise the salad will “leak.”
🍚 Which rice to choose?
Use long-grain parboiled rice - it won't stick together into mush. The calculator shows the weight of already cooked rice, but also indicates the weight of dry cereal for reference.
🌽 Corn without liquid
Be sure to drain all liquid from the jar before adding. The weight in the calculator is indicated for a “pure” product (without brine).
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
❓ What serving size should I choose?
150 g (Light): if there will be a lot of other dishes and hot dishes on the table.
200 g (Standard):optimal for a home feast.
300 g (Large):if salad is one of the main dishes.
❓ How much does one egg weigh in a salad?
In calculations we use an average egg of category C1 (about 55-60 grams). If you have small eggs (C2), add 1-2 more pieces to the calculator result.
❓ Is it possible to remove the rice?
Yes! Many people prefer the lighter “no side dish” option. In the calculator settings, select “Main filler: Corn”, and we will recalculate the proportions without rice.
