🥗 Cooking “Mimosa” without unnecessary leftovers
“Mimosa” is the king of the New Year’s table along with Olivier. The main problem when cooking for a large company is getting the proportions right. Our calculator solves the problem: “how much to weigh in grams”so that there is enough for everyone and the salad is not left to stale in the refrigerator.
Secrets of the perfect Mimosa
The calculator takes into account the basics, but taste depends on the details. Here are some tips:
- Choice of fish: The classics are saury or sardine (they are juicy). Pink salmon is drier, so it will require more mayonnaise. Tuna is an option for the PP version.
- Layers: To keep the salad tender, follow the order: Fish → Onion → Potatoes → Carrot → Protein → Yolk. Coat each layer with a thin mesh of mayonnaise.
- Butter: If you use butter (option in the calculator), be sure to freeze it before grating.
If you are preparing several salads at once, we also recommend using Olivier calculator (if you have one) or weights and measures converterto convert grams to spoons/glasses.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
❓ How many grams of salad do you need per person?
For a holiday table with a lot of snacks, 150–200 g per guest is enough. If Mimosa is one of the main dishes, count on 250 g.
❓ Which fish is better to choose?
The Soviet classics used saury in oil. It gives that “taste of childhood.” Sardine and mackerel are also great. Pink salmon makes the salad more refined, but a bit dry.
❓ Is it necessary to add cheese?
The classic 70s recipe did not contain cheese. However, now many people add a layer of hard cheese for piquancy. In our calculator you can turn this ingredient on or off by checking the box.
