Refrigerator calculator
Is there enough room for all the salads and appetizers?
to assess the threat level
Space in the refrigerator
🎄 The main question of the holidays: “Where do we put this?”
Every year the same story is repeated: food is prepared for a company of soldiers, but for some reason the refrigerator is not rubber. Our calculator will help you plan your “grocery tetris” in advance and save your housewife’s nerve cells.
- Counting containers: Enter the approximate number of bowls, pans and salad bowls.
- Estimating the volume: Indicate the average size of the dishes (for example, a standard salad bowl is 1.5–2 liters, a basin Olivier - all 5).
- Choosing a refrigerator: From a small country cabinet to a huge restaurant cabinet.
What does the Threat Scale show?
We have developed a unique risk assessment system so you know what to prepare for:
- 🟢 Peace and harmony (up to 50%): There is plenty of space. You can buy another cake and a couple of bottles of champagne.
- 🟡 Voltage (50-80%):You will have to show logistics skills. We place the pots on top of each other, the sauces move into the door.
- 🟠 Crisis (80-100%): The refrigerator is packed to capacity. Getting something from the far shelf without dropping the herring under your fur coat is an impossible mission.
- 🔴 Disaster (>100%): The food doesn’t physically fit. Urgently look for alternatives!
💡 Lifehacks: How to fit what you can’t fit
Transfer salads from round bowls to square containers. They take up 25% less usable space and are more convenient to stack on top of each other.
If it is from 0°C to +5°C outside, the glazed balcony turns into a second refrigerator. The main thing is to make sure that the frost does not hit the mayonnaise.
Pull out one shelf to place a tall pot of jellied meat. It is better to place bottles of drinks horizontally.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
❓ What is the volume of a standard Soviet refrigerator?
Classic two-chamber models (like “Minsk” or “Atlant”) usually have a usable refrigerator volume of about 250–300 liters. In the calculator, select the “Old two-chamber” option.
❓ Does the calculator take into account the freezer?
No, the calculation is only for the refrigerator compartment where ready-made meals are stored. Dumplings and ice cream do not participate in the “battle of salads.”
❓ What to do if the threat level is “Apocalypse”?
1. Urgently give some of the food to the guests to take with you.
2. Use thermal bags with cold accumulators.
3. Agree with your neighbors who are going to the country to rent their shelf.
